Bird flu presumed in North Dakota turkey flock
The North Dakota State Board of Animal Health was notified today that samples from a commercial turkey flock in Dickey County tested by the North Dakota State University Veterinary Diagnostic Lab are presumed positive for H5 avian influenza after the flock owner reported increased mortality.

Rancher death trial set to start Tuesday
The trial for a man charged with murder in the shooting death of a Williston, N.D., rancher is set to begin Tuesday in the Ward County Courthouse in Minot. Prosecutors believe Ryan Lee Stensaker, 33, of Williston shot 58-year-old Jack Sjol with a .300 caliber rifle in the head and chest in April of 2013. It’s possible that it was a hit ordered by the outlaw motorcycle gang the Sons of Silence, according to pretrial testimony in the case.
