St. Croix Central Elementary Panther Camp

St. Croix Central Elementary School students will be spending the rest of the school year attending classes at Rolling Ridges Girl Scout Camp in Hudson, which the school district is calling "Panther Camp."

Volunteers installed carpet Friday, May 3, in the large main building that St. Croix Central Elementary is using to house its offices as well as kindergarten through second grade students for the rest of the year. St. Croix Central is leasing Rolling Ridges Girl Scout camp from Girls Scouts River Valleys as a school location. Other work to prepare the camp for use as an elementary school included cleaning bathrooms, building railings, installing locks and other cleaning and maintenance work.

  • The SCC Elementary library and offices were some of the most-damaged areas in the school, following the fire Tuesday, April 30. Teachers were able to enter the school, view the damage and collect a few personal items from their rooms Friday, May 3. However, many school supplies and other classroom items could not be removed from the school.
  • SCC Elementary Principal Steve Sanders leads the way to the buses at the Roberts Village Park, where students who were usually dropped off at school by their parents are now dropped off and bused to “Panther Camp.”
  • St. Croix Central Elementary students gather to recite the Pledge of Allegiance at the beginning of their first day at “Panther Camp,” as St. Croix Central has dubbed the elementary’s new location. All students and staff will gather around the flag every morning for the Pledge of Allegiance, before heading off to their respective class locations.
  • After the Pledge of Allegiance, SCC Elementary students and staff walk to the buildings they will hold classes in. The kindergarten through second graders are in one building, along with the offices and library. The third graders and fourth graders are in two separate buildings.
