Hauling up barrel

Frank Gorham, U.S. Navy master diver, and Bob Dempsey of the Army Corps of Engineers wrestle aboard one of two 55-gallon drums weighing more than 600 pounds in this 1994 photo. The barrels were lined with concrete and filled with boxes of munitions parts. They were trucked to Duluth from a Honeywell weapons plant in the Twin Cities in the late 1950s to the early 1960s.
