Cormorants on Potato Island


Cormorants and herring gulls share Potato Island on Lake Vermilion. DNR fisheries officials said double-crested cormorants, which have staged a major comeback across the state in recent years, will be killed after several fish netting surveys showed consistently lower perch population in the eastern portion of Vermilion.
