Salt chair

A silversmith in Moscow engraved traditional designs on this circa-1900 salt chair. The 4½-inch piece sold for $750 at a recent Jackson’s auction in Cedar Falls, Iowa. Notice the hinged lid seat cover that helps keep the salt dry and free of lumps. Cowles Syndicate
