Beet pulp

Pressed sugar beet pulp is about 72 percent moisture and comes out of the plant at 140 degrees Fahrenheit. Faced with natural gas rationing because of a Canadian pipeline explosion on Jan. 25, American Crystal Sugar is unable to use natural gas to dry the product and pellet it at 10 percent moisture for foreign feed customers, so is attempting to market as much of the product as possible for use by regional livestock feedlots.
