Harvest near Spicer, Minn.

Despite recent rains and muddy fields, corn harvest was proceeding Oct. 21 at a farm west of Spicer, Minn. Overall, crop harvest has been slowed by the conditions, especially corn. The state crop-weather report shows that 19 percent of the state’s corn crop has been harvested, compared with 95 percent at this time last year and 49 percent on a five-year average. Soybeans are 80 percent harvested, on par with the five-year average of 83 percent. (Carolyn Lange/Forum News Service)
