July 30 storm

Gusty winds during the July 30 storm caused a grain bin and catwalk at the Clara City Farmers Elevator to topple and block a portion of state Highway 23 in Clara City. That same storm caused extensive agricultural losses, and a disaster has been designated in five area counties. The designation makes farmers eligible for emergency loans through the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Farm Service Agency. (Tribune file photo by Bill Zimmer)
