Lucky Lady

In this April 28, 2008, photo provided by Farm Sanctuary, Lucky Lady, a sheep, stands in a meadow at Farm Sanctuary in Watkins Glen, N.Y., where she was brought in 2007 after roaming the streets of New York's South Bronx following her escape from an auction house. Hundreds of animals, like Lucky Lady, that might otherwise have met a bloody end at one of New York’s nearly 90 storefront slaughterhouses, now live in sanctuaries north of the city.
