Tharaldson dryer

One of four dryer drums turns like a large clothes dryer. Distiller’s grains roll ahead through the system, only about 15 minutes in each drier. The operating temperatures can be more than 1,000 degrees Fahrenheit. The photo was taken March 15, 2013, at the company plant west of Casselton. (Forum News Service/Agweek/Mikkel Pates)
