Parks projects plea

Dusty Johnson, Gov. Dennis Daugaard’s chief of staff, asks for support of Daugaard’s $4 million budget request for three special outdoors projects during an appearance Thursday before the Legislature’s joint committee on appropriations. They are an 18-mile extension of the Mickelson Trail to connect with Mount Rushmore; creation of a new state park at the Blood Run tribal-historic site near Sioux Falls; and a new visitor center and auditorium complex at Custer State Park.
