Kelly Kotowicz, seed manager of Farmers Elevator Co. of Alvarado, Minn., spent five years looking for a soybean pod containing five beans. He recently found this one in a field north of Alvarado. Traditionally, three soybeans in a pod has been normal. But four beans in a pod are increasingly common, and experts say a pod with five beans can on rare occasion be found in found in northwest Minnesota and North Dakota
