Truck route

A proposed truck route around Park Rapids inched a step closer to its proposed 2016 construction date. Wednesday the Hubbard County board approved mileage modifications west of the city, exchanging county roads with townships and establishing new County State Aid Highways. The route, which has been 15 years in the making, is designed to move truck traffic off the busy Highways 71 and 34 intersection, above, and send it west of town. It runs south 2 miles from the old candle factory on County 28, then east 1.8 miles to Highway 71 south of the airport. (Sarah Smith / Enterprise)
