Bison donation

In this Jan. 27, 2005 file photo a bison bull donated by media mogul Ted Turner grazes at Caprock Canyons State Park in Texas. Six years ago inbreeding threatened to destroy the last remaining vestige of the Southern plains bison herd that roams the state park, which was once part of celebrated rancher Charles Goodnight's JA Ranch in the Texas Panhandle. Researchers now say the donation of a few bulls from Turner seems to have done the trick. The herd has increased to 75 bison and there’s no longer an immediate risk of extinction.
