Farmers look at system from Yellowstone to Red River soils
CARTWRIGHT, N.D. — Scott Flynn is one of a handful of farmers trying strip-till farming in the Yellowstone River Valley, along the North Dakota/Montana border. Strip-tillage is a hot topic this year across the region, from Minnesota to Montana, as a potential way to cut fuel costs, as well as improving fertilizer application efficiency — particularly with phosphate fertilizer where rates can be cut back and placed beneath a row crop.By: Mikkel Pates, Agweek
