If you mess with nature, be prepared to pay the consequences, be it genetics or field drainage... we'll all be paying the price for bad decisions around here by farmers.

Good! Time to stick it to Mosantao - this evil empire won't allow people to grow crops second gen and sue others who have had thier crops cross polinate. They want full controll of the food chain. And lets not get started on the execssive subsides on sugar beets.. We could get sugar for 1/5th the cost but for some reason one slecect crop is singled out as more important. Basically a ongoing bailout for years that was not needed but thanks to lobbists it has ben milking the govt for years.

If farmers have a problem, blame it on Mansanto, they are the ones to blame by forcing out organic soybean farmers. The same injustices were done to them. Just watch the production Food, Inc, and that's all you need to see. This is just backlash to that.

Sugar is only profitable because of an artificially high price set by farm policy; foreign sugar sells for significantly less, about 19 cents / pound vs. domestic beet sugar's 36 / pound. Americans subsidize, through price controls the domestic sugar industry to the tune of $1.4 billion / year for a product that contributes to obesity. Yes, the beet industry is an economic driver in our region, but few understand its real costs.
