Well...think about it. For the billions the govornment gave to AIG,Fannie Mae, and Freddie Mac, they could have instead given each US household a check for $200,000. Which in turn the people would have used to pay off their mortgages which would result in AIG,and the FMs becoming solvent again and the taxpayers would have received significant value for their investment, and the rest of the cash would be spent on consumer goods helping businesses nationwide adding a huge influx of cash into the economy at a time when few people are spending at all. Rather than just handing it to the companies that caused the problems.

Feeding cash to our economy?? Its throwing money away. Pure greed and waste. This green talk is very emotional and expensive. If we could spend our way out of a recession, would we ever have one??????

Personally I feel that the 13 cent per gallon subsidy is a very small price to pay for reducing our need for foreign oil. There never was a corn shortage, there has always been a surplus. The prices were wildly fluctuating due to hype and futures trading..probably started by the big oil companies to create a negative opinion on ethanol because it was starting to have an impact on their hundreds of billions of dollars in profits. Personally I would gladly pay an extra 25 to 50 cents at the pump for gas if it meant we were continuing on the renewable fuels path and focusing on less oil dependence. And at the same time it is bringing many more jobs and feeding cash to our economy.

Gary, Corn ethanol is not profitable without subsidies. Its a fact. This green fashion has to meet with economic reality at some point.

I ask Semore p, what does this have to do with tax dollars? I see a big plus with cleaner fuel and less dependence on foreign oil. Look at other countries such as brazil, where the majority of vehicles run on ethanol and the country is not dependent on foreign oil. We would be using a USA made product and keeping the money within our economy.

What a waste of tax dollars. You could also create a lot o jobs by building $15 million jails in every city in Stevens County.
