Brothers ditch bar tab, try to high tail it out of town

A 27-year-old rural River Falls man was buying shots and drinks for himself, his brother and patrons at The Corner Saloon, 128 N. Main St., last week. Then he allegedly tried paying a $95 tab with a bad credit card. The card was put back on the bar counter. He grabbed it and allegedly raced out with his brother. A bartender followed, shouting for him to pay up and not to drive because both were drunk.

UPDATED: Pierce County man released from hospital after foot got stuck in lawnmower

Wednesday evening, June 12, a 32-year town of El Paso man overturned his John Deere lawnmower after swerving sharply to avoid hitting the family dog. His left leg was pinned under the mower deck. The man's mother came out to help free his leg.

Young local men jailed for weekend battery at Glen Park

A 16-year-old Hudson boy said he was beaten, pepper sprayed, knocked out and woke to find his bike stolen Saturday night, June 8, during an incident at Swinging Bridge by Glen Park. Two 18-year-old male suspects from River Falls were soon picked up on the walking path behind UW-River Falls Lab Farm #1.

Local man arrested and later charged with sexual assault

A 26-year-old River Falls man was picked up Saturday morning, June 1, at his apartment at 819 S. Wasson Lane after being accused of sexually assaulting a 19-year-old woman from Frederic. The two met downtown around bar-closing time and returned with others to his apartment for an after-bar party.

The Graduate: I will be a doctor, but you are illiterate and a &%*#*!

River Falls police had their hands full with a drunk 22-year-old male passenger around 1 a.m. Friday, May 17, at South Main and Broadway streets. The young man, from UW-River Falls, called himself a graduate, but when an officer checked on his welfare because he seemed sick, "the graduate" allegedly turned abusive, claiming he would be a doctor, then shouting at and cussing the officer, calling him uneducated and dumb, and later using racial insults.
