Hearing set on grant for Stutsman Rural Water District

A hearing on a House bill to grant nearly $10 million to Stutsman Rural Water District is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the North Dakota Capitol. If the bill passes, the grant would allow Stutsman Rural Water to proceed with an expansion planned for this summer.

Sales tax bill would give some funds to counties

A bill to bring more North Dakota sales tax money back to the local counties may be in the works, according to Sen. John Grabinger, D-Jamestown. The bill would require using the funds for infrastructure. Grabinger is working to gain support for a bill to return 1.5 percent of the 5 percent sales tax collected by the state to the county where it was collected.

Jamestown residents will soon be receiving mailings from American Water Resources offering insurance covering the cost of repairs for service lines between water mains and their homes. It was New Year’s babies times two at Jamestown Regional Medical Center on Tuesday. Amy Stegmiller delivered an 8-pound, 9-ounce baby boy about 1 p.m. It was the second child for Amy and her husband, Wes, of Jamestown. The couple named their son Joshua.
