Wessington Springs celebrates turbine as energy, educational opportunity
Several months after erecting a wind turbine, the Wessington Springs School District held a ribbon cutting Wednesday to welcome a new learning opportunity and energy source. “As we built it, we knew we weren’t going to get it at full scale as we’d set out to do,” said Superintendent Lance Witte prior to the ribbon cutting. “But we’ll capitalize on the educational component.”The Daily Republic, 04/21/2011

Tripp-Delmont voters to decide on opt-out in May vote
The Tripp-Delmont School District is facing the possibility of not renewing its opt-out funds, which allow the district to charge higher property taxes. The school board voted in February to opt out of the state property tax freeze again for the next seven years at $300,000 a year.
