USDA might revise crop report

The Agriculture Department says it might revise production estimates for some crops.

FARGO (AP) — The Agriculture Department says it might revise production estimates for some crops.

Crops affected include barley, oats, durum wheat and spring wheat.

USDA said that when farmers were surveyed for the Sept. 30 production report, there was significant unharvested acres of barley and oats in Idaho, Minnesota, Montana, North Dakota, and Wyoming; of durum wheat in Idaho, Montana, and North Dakota; and spring wheat in Idaho, Minnesota, Montana, and North Dakota.

The unharvested areas and expected production were included in the totals released on Sept. 30. They might be revised for the Nov. 10 report, after USDA contacts farmers who had unharvested fields.

Stocks estimates also are being reviewed since unharvested production is included in the estimate of on-farm stocks.
