Farm show drawing worldwide buyers

Officials say about 25 representatives of large farm and ranch corporations from Kazakhstan will tour feedlots throughout North Dakota and meet with cattle breeders and livestock scientists. The announcement came at the Big Iron farm show, running this week at the Red River Valley Fairgrounds.

WEST FARGO, N.D. (AP) — Officials say about 25 representatives of large farm and ranch corporations from Kazakhstan will tour feedlots throughout North Dakota and meet with cattle breeders and livestock scientists.

The announcement came at the Big Iron farm show, running this week at the Red River Valley Fairgrounds.

Gov. John Hoeven’s office said Tuesday that about 170 buyers of farm and ranch equipment from 15 countries have registered through the state’s International Visitors Program. The program was developed by the North Dakota Trade Office to promote state products.

The office’s agribusiness manager, Larry White, said the government of Kazakhstan has set aside millions of dollars to help build its livestock industry.

Special events for international buyers run through Saturday.
