WILLMAR — Kandiyohi County Farm Bureau is sponsoring the informational panel discussion on water issues at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday during the Willmar Ag Show.

The meeting is in the meeting room at the Willmar Civic Center.

The panel will include Warren Formo, Minnesota Agricultural Water Resources Center; David Craigmile, Dawson area farmer and member of the Lac qui Parle Watershed district board; and Steve Commerford, a New Ulm crop consultant who is involved with a number of Total Maximum Daily Load determinations.

A Total Maximum Daily Load is a calculation of the maximum amount of a pollutant that a waterbody can receive and still safely meet water quality standards.

The panelists will discuss how farming can be affected by the Pollution Control Agency and the federal Environmental Protection Agency, the possibility of restrictions on drainage and use of fertilizer and the process of determining the Total Maximum Daily Load for our area watersheds.
