GRAND FORKS (AP) — The Grand Forks mosquito control program supervisor says standing water can breed mosquitoes, and he's urging people to clean their gutters and yards.

Todd Hanson says mosquito trap counts are likely to increase in the next few weeks. He says the Culex mosquito, the one that carries West Nile virus, lays eggs in standing water.
