Minot lawn watering may have to follow schedule

Minot officials are proposing a schedule for residents to water their lawns this summer, saying they want to better manage the city’s water resources.

MINOT (AP) — Minot officials are proposing a schedule for residents to water their lawns this summer, saying they want to better manage the city’s water resources.

The City Council is considering alternate watering days for even- and odd-numbered homes.

Water treatment plant Superintendent Jason Sorenson said the city is not short of water. But he said there’s more demand on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays and that makes it harder to manage reservoir levels and water plant production.

Sorenson said it involves fire safety as well as water management issues.
