N.D. has second confirmed swine flu case

North Dakota now has two confirmed cases of swine flu, one in Burleigh County and one in Ward County. The Health Department hasn’t identified either patient, but said neither was hospitalized.

BISMARCK (AP) — North Dakota now has two confirmed cases of swine flu, one in Burleigh County and one in Ward County.

The Health Department hasn’t identified either patient, but said neither was hospitalized.

The first North Dakota case of H1N1 influenza virus, more commonly known as swine flu, was confirmed by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on Thursday. The Ward County case was confirmed this week.

The Health Department reported three other probable cases in North Dakota.

Swine flu cases have topped 9,830 worldwide. There have been 82 deaths, mostly in Mexico.
