Bismarck drafts turbine ordinance

Bismarck planners have drawn up an ordinance to regulate small wind turbines in the city. The Planning and Zoning Commission will consider it later this month, and the City Commission could hold a public hearing in June.

BISMARCK (AP) — Bismarck planners have drawn up an ordinance to regulate small wind turbines in the city.

The Planning and Zoning Commission will consider it later this month, and the City Commission could hold a public hearing in June.

The proposed ordinance sets rules for wind turbines capable of producing 25 kilowatts of electricity or less.

It was prompted by two requests for wind turbines. City planner Gregg Greenquist said current city ordinance doesn’t address the issue.
