BISMARCK (AP) — The state Agriculture Department and North Dakota State University are starting inspector training for a new statewide system to certify hay as being free of weeds.
North Dakota lawmakers approved the system during the session that just ended.
The legislation was aim-ed at clarifying a law the state Agriculture Depart-ment said was cum-bersome, vague and poss-ibly illegal. The agency stopped certifying weed-free inspectors last year.
Training sessions are Monday in Dickinson, Thursday in Carrington and May 18 in Minot.
