N.D. milk production down in first quarter

Milk production in North Dakota during January, February and March totaled 98 million pounds, down 8.4 percent from the first quarter of 2008.

FARGO (AP) — Milk production in North Dakota during January, February and March totaled 98 million pounds, down 8.4 percent from the first quarter of 2008.

The Agriculture Department said the average number of milk cows during the quarter stood at 25,000, down from 1,000 a year earlier but equal to the previous quarter.
