The North Dakota Farm Bureau Foundation and the agricultural community are assisting in flood-fighting efforts with a Buy a Sandbag for a Buck flood relief and recovery program.
“We’ve already built a proverbial dike of 80,000 sandbags strong and counting,” said North Dakota Farm Bureau Foundation President Eric Aasmundstad. Assisting were various companies Altria, Dow AgroSciences, Monsanto, Nodak Mutual Insurance Company, John Deere Company, Minneapolis, New York Farm Bureau and Nebraska Farm Bureau.
With every additional ‘sandbag’ you buy, you will be donating one dollar to flood recovery and relief efforts across the state,” Aasmunstad said.
He said 100 percent of every dollar earmarked for the flood fund will go to those who need it most. The NDFB Foundation Board will make disbursement decisions, targeting charitable community organizations such as local volunteer EMTs, ambulance corps and firemen.
“We have an application for grants on the NDFB Foundation Web page at www.ndfb.org/foundation that organizations can download and submit,” Aasmundstad said.
To donate to the sandbag fund, send checks to NDFB Foundation, PO Box 2064, Fargo, ND 58107-2064 and write in the memo section, “I bought a sandbag.” Donations to NDFB Foundation are tax deductible.
