Fall – and fun – was in the air at the fifth annual Foli-Ole Fest at Anderson Florist and Greenhouses Saturday.
Families who enjoyed the event dropped off a total of 960 pounds of non-perishable food items for the Douglas County Outreach Food Shelf, along with contributing more than $328 in cash.
“We were really excited with how things went,” said Debra Peterson, coordinator for the event. “It was our new record. Especially with the economy being down, it was nice to see people step up and increase their giving.”
Activities included games, a petting zoo, hay rides, face painting, pumpkin decorating, cookie making and more.
Peterson noted that it takes a lot of helping hands to make the event so successful and she thanked all the sponsors.
They included Anderson Florist, Elden’s Food Fair, Martinson Insurance, First State Bank of Alexandria, Alex Power Equipment, Burger King, All Stop, Garden Center, Erickson’s Petting Zoo, Alexandria Beetles, Amazing Memories by Stacia Photography, Eye Associates of Alexandria, The Dollar District, Jake’s Bikes, Hilltop Rental Center, Echo Press, KIKV, Cool 94.3 and KXRA Radio.
