Douglas County 4-H’ers in the Food Review and Demonstrations project areas participated in judging day on July 15.
Food Review participants were required to design a menu and place setting, and bring one food item from the menu, as well as the place setting and centerpiece.
The nine participants were Asheley Nienaber of Garfield and Lauren Engebretson and Austin Clayton of Alexandria (Chippewans), Jessa Kokett and Alexis Kokett of Alexandria (Liberty Livewires), Daykota Blowers and Bailey Morris of Brandon (Brandon Happy Knoll), Michael Schroeder of Brandon (Moe), and Ember Willard of Miltona (Independent Contenders).
All participants earned blue ribbons. Jessa Kokett won Grand Champion honors and Lauren Engebretson Reserve Champion honors in the 9th grade and above division.
Alexis Kokett was the Grand Champion and Ember Willard Reserve Champion in the 6-8th grade division.
Austin Clayton was the Grand Champion and Michael Schroeder Reserve Champion in the 3-5th grade division.
Seven demonstrations were given on topics of choice. These demonstrations included topics such as How to Successfully Sell Fruit and Vegetables, How to Show a Lamb and Michael’s Munchies.
Participants included Michael Schroeder and Will Schroeder of Brandon (Moe), Lauren Engebretson and Kayla Parent of Alexandria (Chippewans), Ariel Way of Garfield (Chippewans), Josh Hedstrom of Alexandria (Hoofbeats), Eric Branch and Carl Branch of Alexandria (Go Bees).
Eric and Carl Branch received Grand Champion and William Schroeder received Reserve Champion in the grades 6 and up division.
Michael Schroeder was named Grand Champion for grades 3-5.
