ST. PAUL — Minnesota’s turkey growers have elected five members to serve on the Minnesota Turkey Research and Promotion Council. The council members are turkey industry representatives who serve as leaders and advocates for the Minnesota turkey industry and work to improve its profitability and viability. The council meets about eight times per year and board members serve three-year terms.

Minnesota Agriculture Commissioner Gene Hugoson says member participation in the commodity council election is important in promoting and marketing one of the state’s top ag industries.

“Voting is one of the ways turkey producers can have a say in how their check-off dollars are spent,” said Hugoson. “Minnesota is the number one turkey producing state in the country, and all the candidates and those who voted have helped in the success of this industry.”

The new Turkey Research and Promotion Council members include Tim Johnson and Scott Jones of Willmar, who are at-large members.
