Harvest days event is this weekend

The 10th annual Corn Shredding Autumn Harvest Days will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday at the Dwain Gerken farm, two miles south of Oak Center via Wabasha County Road 17.

On Saturday, the annual Minnesota State Corn Husking Contest will begin at 9:30 a.m. Competition will be in nine age groups. Winners in each group are eligible to compete in a national contest. For information about competing, call Kathy Ofstie at (651) 923-4835.

Sunday’s special events will include the Battle of the Bang Board at 2 p.m. This contest is for children under 7 or between ages 8 to 12. They will see who can pick the most ears of corn in two minutes. Kids over 12 will have three minutes to pick.
