A plan to close some U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) facilities nationwide won’t affect Pierce County.

Linda Paul, director of the Pierce County Farm Service Agency (FSA), said Thursday the plan, reported by the National Farmers Union (NFU) earlier this month, won’t have any impact here. Besides FSA, the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), also with an office in Pierce, is on the facilities closings list.

“Only one county in Wisconsin will be affected: Marinette,” Paul said about a county in Eastern Wisconsin near Michigan’s Upper Peninsula.
