If farming could be compared to a baseball game, area farmers might refer to this growing season as the old “squeeze play.”
The wet and cold spring put them behind at the start of the season, Pierce County Soil Conservationist Jon Krauss said Thursday. Last week’s early frost was somewhat of a concern as season’s end nears.
“It should’ve been on the 23rd,” Krauss said in estimating the first frost, based on spring’s first thunderstorm.
