Deadlines announced for entries in State Fair competition

The state’s best ribbon-winning art, education and agricultural entries will be on display at the 2008 Minnesota State Fair.

The state’s best ribbon-winning art, education and agricultural entries will be on display at the 2008 Minnesota State Fair.

This year’s fair is scheduled to run Thursday, Aug. 21 through Labor Day, Sept. 1.

Winning exhibitors will be awarded ribbons, trophies and more than $950,000 in cash.

Deadlines for entering Minnesota State Fair competitions are as follows:

- Fine Arts: Registration, July 14; delivery, Aug. 1-3

- Dairy Products: July 18

- Horses: July 21

- FFA Cattle: July 28

- Cattle, Open Class: July 28

- Pigeons: July 30

- Poultry: July 30

- Rabbits: July 30

- FFA Swine: Aug. 4

- FFA Sheep: Aug. 4

- Swine, Open Class: Aug. 4

- Sheep, Open Class: Aug. 4

- Dairy Goats: Aug. 4

- Llamas: Aug. 4

- Creative Activities: Pre-registration Aug. 5; delivery Aug. 10, 11, 12 and 13; baked goods only, delivery Aug. 17.

n Education (individual exhibits and industrial technology): Pre-registration Aug. 5; delivery Aug. 11-12.

- Christmas Trees: Aug. 6

- FFA Judging Contests: Aug. 8

- FFA Crops: Aug. 8

- Farm Crops: Aug. 8

- Crop Art & Scarecrow: Aug. 8

- Hallberg Scholarship: Aug. 8
