Letter: Down with DNR on swan decision

I read the story about the swans in the Saturday paper. I was not at all surprised to hear that the DNR wants to get the swans out of here — even kill them. This is just another “freedom” that is being taken away from the people of our country by the “know-it-all-higher-ups” that we have in government.

I read the story about the swans in the Saturday paper. I was not at all surprised to hear that the DNR wants to get the swans out of here — even kill them. This is just another “freedom” that is being taken away from the people of our country by the “know-it-all-higher-ups” that we have in government.

Hey, DNR people, what were the swans hurting? They were making our day a little better just to see them stately swimming on the lake. No one was getting hurt by them, and they were doing no damage out on the water. They were cared for in the winter by the Demuths (at their own expense, I may add) and then allowed to entertain people the next summer. Why can’t the birds be allowed to let people see the beauty of the world?

There is so little loveliness now days and then the DNR is going to take that away, too. Where do these people get their schooling and upbringing, under a cabbage leaf? They must be the coldest and most inconsiderate people around. I am sure Bob and Betty Demuth would like to keep the birds. Call or write the DNR and let them know how you feel about the swans. This is just so very wrong.
