LAKEVILLE, Minn. – A 62-year-old man is dead after the farm tractor he was driving rolled down a ditch and into a lake Tuesday, the Otter Tail County Sheriff’s Office said.

John Oliver Antonsen of Lakeville was found dead at the scene, pinned under the overturned tractor and submerged underwater, according to a news release from Deputy Scott Wagner.

According to the release:

The accident was reported at 9:24 p.m. south of Dent on Heart Lake Road near the intersection with Sybil Lake Road.

The tractor, an older-model Case with no cab or protective frame, was found lying upside-down and partially submerged in about 1 to 2 feet of water in a small lake on the north side of Heart Lake Road.

An initial investigation indicated that Antonsen had driven onto the narrow north shoulder of the roadway and lost control of the tractor as it entered the steep ditch.

The incident remains under investigation.

First responders from Vergas and Perham assisted sheriff’s deputies at the scene.
