N.D. Ag Hall of Fame taking nominations

The selection committee of the North Dakota Agricultural Hall of Fame is asking the public for candidate suggestions for the 2010 inductees - men and women who have made the wheels of agriculture turn.

The selection committee of the North Dakota Agricultural Hall of Fame is asking the public for candidate suggestions for the 2010 inductees - men and women who have made the wheels of agriculture turn.

According to Gerry Gerntholz, chairman of the selection committee, "The North Dakota Ag Hall of Fame is a way that we can recognize and showcase the men and women, past or present, who have played an important part in the changing agricultural scene in North Dakota. There are many individuals who have made a difference in the various aspects of agriculture, and we need the input of everyone including farmers, ranchers, agri-businessmen, ag communications and the scientific communities to find the most deserving candidates.” Either organizations or individuals may suggest candidates.

Individuals are eligible to be nominated if they satisfy at least two of the three requirements: be at least 45 years old, retired form an agricultural related career, or accumulated at least 20 years of service to the ag industry in North Dakota. The deadline for suggesting candidates is December 1, 2009.

Agricultural groups and organizations which are represented on the selection committee include: ND Lamb & Wool Producers, ND Grain Growers, ND Stockmen’s Association, ND Oilseed Council, ND Department of Agriculture, ND Pork Producers Council, NDSU Extension Service, National Agri-Marketing Association, ND Farm Bureau, ND Farmers Union, ND Vocational Agriculture, North Dakota Winter Show, and a representative from ND’s farm broadcasters and ag journalists.
