SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) — The weekly crop report from the U.S. Department of Agriculture indicates South Dakota's small-grain harvest is almost done.
Farmers used favorable weather to gain ground on the oats, barley and spring wheat crops.
The report also shows that corn development remains behind normal and that the corn-for-silage harvest is 7 percent complete.
The USDA says areas in the central and southwest parts of South Dakota are having problems with grasshoppers.
The weekly report is based on information from county Extension educators, Farm Service Agency county directors and other reporters across the state.
