A new partnership between a South Dakota beef company and North Dakota Natural Beef in Fargo will help lead to more jobs in Fargo, said the president of the North Dakota company.

Organic beef producer Dakota Beef in Howard, S.D., is closing its plant there and partnering with the North Dakota company, according to The Associated Press.

Some of the employees at the Howard plant will be offered positions in North Dakota, the AP said.

North Dakota Natural Beef is growing rapidly and has more than 50 employees, said Dieter Pape, president and chief executive officer.

The company projects that it will reach 120 jobs in Fargo within three years, he said.

The North Dakota company makes products under the Dakota Farms label. It was established in 2005 as a joint venture between North Dakota Natural Beef LLC and North Dakota State University’s beef research program.
