LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) — Two rival bidders teamed up to pay a record-shattering price for Kentucky's grand champion ham at a charity auction Thursday.

Sutherland Foundation and Republic Bank and Trust each paid $650,000 for the combined winning bid of $1.3 million for the 15.6-pound ham.

Republic Bank plans to donate its share of the winning bid to Louisville flood victims, Wayside Christian Mission and education and health care charities.

Sutherland Foundation will donate its share to the University of Louisville's Bucks for Brains program.

The champion ham was produced by Scott Hams of Greenville in western Kentucky.

The auction is a highlight of the annual Kentucky Country Ham Breakfast, sponsored by Kentucky Farm Bureau.

The previous record price for Kentucky's grand champion ham was $500,000 in 2006.
