WAHPETON, N.D. – Cathleen Dean, 52, of Barney faces charges of negligent homicide in connection with a late September accident that killed an 18-year-old Wahpeton woman, WDAY TV News reported Tuesday.

The charges were filed by the Richland County state’s attorney, WDAY reported. Dean faces up to five years in prison and a $5,000 fine.

Witnesses to the Sept. 29 accident said Annie Gjesdal was driving west on 16th Avenue in Wahpeton and was entering an intersection when her car collided with the semi truck Dean was using to haul sugar beets, according to a North Dakota Highway Patrol sergeant. The patrol said Dean entered the intersection against a red light.
