Beet truck, car collide near Crookston; no major injuries

No major injuries were reported in a beet truck-vehicle collision Tuesday in Crookston.

No major injuries were reported in a beet truck-vehicle collision Tuesday in Crookston.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol, Roger Larson, 67, of Euclid, Minn., was hauling beets in a 1977 Mack truck south on U.S. Highway 75 at about noon Tuesday, nearing the intersection with 273rd Street Southwest in Crookston.

The patrol said a 2003 Pontiac Montana driven by Rochelle Mahlen, 41, of Fosston, Minn., went through a stop sign onto Highway 75 and was struck on the passenger side by Larson’s truck. Both drivers were wearing seat belts. Mahlen was treated and released at Riverview Hospital in Crookston; there was no condition report on Larson, the patrol said.

The Crookston Police Department and the Polk County Sheriff’s Office also responded to the scene. The accident remains under investigation.
