Locked-out workers to caravan

Locked-out American Crystal Sugar Co. workers said Tuesday they plan to travel 200 miles by foot and hay wagon to draw attention to the 10-month-old lockout.

Locked-out American Crystal Sugar Co. workers said Tuesday they plan to travel 200 miles by foot and hay wagon to draw attention to the 10-month-old lockout.

The caravan will depart Drayton, N.D., site of a Crystal processing facilty, at 11 a.m. Thurs-day and arrive June 6 at the company’s headquarters in Moorhead. The company and repre-sentatives of the Bakery, Confectionery, Tobacco Works and Grain Millers’ International Union (BCTGM) are scheduled for talks on June 8.

The caravan will make stops in Grand Forks, East Grand Forks, as well as in Grafton and Hillsboro, N.D., and Crookston. The lockout began on Aug. 1.
