FARGO — North Dakota farmers are wrapping up the planting of staple small grains crops, and ranchers in the state are finishing up calving.

The Agriculture Department says in its weekly crop and weather report that a week of above-normal temperatures has helped producers, but there is concern in some areas about warm weather and strong winds depleting topsoil moisture.

Topsoil moisture supplies overall are rated 73 percent adequate to surplus. Pasture and range conditions in North Dakota are rated 72 percent good to excellent.
