WORTHINGTON — Two summer camping opportunities are available to Minnesota youths through Operation Military Kids.
The camps are open to young people who have been impacted by a loved one in the military or a deployment.
Youths ages 8-12 can attend “Boots On” camps sponsored by Operation Military Kids. At the camp, youths are encouraged to bring a non-military friend along to experience the same type of deployment preparations, such as completing paperwork and physical fitness training. The camp is July 11-12, at Camp Koinonia near Annandale. Registrations are due by noon July 1.
“Teen Camp” is for youths ages 13-16, and the focus of the camp is team building and communication skills, including challenge activities such as a ropes course. The camp is July 19-21 at Ironwood Springs Ranch near Stewartville. Registration is due by noon on July 10.
Campers will experience campfires, crafts, canoeing and cabin-living. There is no registration fee, and transportation to and from camp is available from certain locations.
Registration information is available at www.operationmilitarykids.org, click on State Information and then MN. It is located under the News/Events section.
