STB officials will be in Malta, Mont., June 11

The Montana Department of Agriculture is encouraging shippers and producers to meet with the Surface Transportation Board’s Rail Customer and Public Assistance Program representatives in Malta on June 11.

HELENA, Mont. — The Montana Department of Agriculture is encouraging shippers and producers to meet with the Surface Transportation Board’s Rail Customer and Public Assistance Program representatives in Malta on June 11.

Confidential, informal meetings will be held with staff representatives from the Board’s Rail and Customer and Public Assistance Program (throughout the day at the Lodge Room at the Great Northern Hotel, 2 South 1st St E, Malta, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

“We are encouraging all Montanans that have been affected by shipping delays to meet with the Surface Transportation Board,” says Montana Department of Agriculture director Ron de Yong. “The department has been following the delays closely, and we will be expressing our concerns to the RCPA representatives. It’s not good for business when grain shipments are still delayed an average of 30 days across the state.”

According to the RCPA, there are still slots available in the afternoon.

Persons wishing to meet with RCPA staff members should email their requests, by close of business on June 9 to RCPA@stb.dot.gov. Requests for meetings may also be made by phoning 202-245-0241. Please indicate the preferred half-hour time slot.
