American Crystal appoints employees to new positions

American Crystal Sugar Co. in Moorhead, Minn., has announced management structure changes: two promotions and two employees moving to new areas of responsibility.

MOORHEAD, Minn. — American Crystal Sugar Co. in Moorhead, Minn., has announced management structure changes: two promotions and two employees moving to new areas of responsibility.

• Kevin Price will be vice president of government affairs, a promotion from his position as director of government affairs since joining the company in 1996. He holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from North Dakota State University and was an aide to former Sen. Kent Conrad, D-N.D., before taking his post. He lives in Alexandria, Va.

• Teresa Warne will be vice president of finance. She holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Montana State University, a master’s in business administration from Metropolitan State University in Minnesota’s Twin Cities, and joined American Crystal in 2008 as corporate controller. She had worked in accounting at Caribou Coffee Inc. and is the first female vice president American Crystal has had. Warne and her family live in Moorhead.

• Brian Ingulsrud will be vice president of agriculture. He has been at American Crystal since 1990 and has worked in various positions, including vice president of administration since 2004. He has a bachelor’s degree in management from the University of North Dakota and a master’s in business administration from the University of Minnesota. He and his family live in Fargo, N.D.

• Tom Astrup will be vice president of operations, which oversees the factories. He has been with American Crystal since 1994 and has been vice president of both administration and agriculture, and most recently was vice president of finance and chief financial officer. He holds a degree in accounting from UND. He and his family live in Fargo.

Talley’s departure

The change comes in the wake of the departure of Joe Talley, chief operating officer, whose last day was Jan. 17.

David Berg, American Crystal president and CEO, declined to elaborate on the announcement, except to acknowledge that all vice presidents will now report directly to the president. The new structure does not include a chief operations officer, to which agriculture and operations previously had reported.
